Ocean's 8 Movie Review - The Powerpuff Girls
Ocean's 8 serves as a continuation of Steven Soderbergh's Ocean's trilogy and follows the story of a group of women led by Debbie Ocean (Sandra Bullock) who plan a heist of the Met Gala in New York City.

The annual Met Gala is about to happen, and Debbie Ocean has plans to perform a heist by stealing a $150 million necklace off from Daphne Kluger (Anne Hathaway). She builds up a team of highly talented women's with the help of Lou (Cate Blanchett), and together they set out to perform the heist.
Ocean's 8 boasts of a talented cast and mind-blowing performances that make this film very watchable. You will never lose interest or get bored while watching this movie. Although comparisons would be made with the Soderbergh's trilogy, I think its best not to compare it and enjoy the film as it is. While the previous Ocean's films had male leads, this one has a set of smart females who have their own skills and rock their way through the movie. A special mention towards the dresses and costumes department as they are a hell of a sight to see. Gary Ross who had also directed the 2012 film The Hunger Games does a fantastic job in directing this film. There are no unnecessary dragged scenes as the editing is quite crisp and edgy. This is a beautiful looking film, and there is nothing much to say here as it is your typical popcorn film which is successful in keeping you entertained.
Sandra Bullock playing as the sister of Danny Ocean (played by George Clooney in the remake trilogy) delivers a fantastic performance. Sarah Paulson playing as the frustrated mother is the only other character who has some depth after Sandra Bullock's character. Mindy Kaling as Amita is the only Indian among the group and because of this, her character is shown as someone who is still living with her mother and gets nagged about having a successful marriage. I think this is a notion that the foreigners might have about the Indians and hence Mindy's character is made like this. Anne Hathaway takes your heart away with her flawless performance, and I have started admiring her a lot since the time I had watched her in One Day which is one of my favourite films of all time and every time I see her in a movie, I know she won't do anything wrong and will surely deliver an exceptional performance. She never disappoints. Rihanna plays as a hacker in the film and doesn't have many dialogues to say, and I think she was perfect for her part and did a fine job in the movie. The other actresses like Awkwafina, Helena Bonham Carter and Goddess of Death (see Thor: Ragnarok) Cate Blanchett were all astounding in their parts.
Ocean's 8 though being a heist film, doesn't have any tension or a ground-breaking surprise attached to it. The hurdles which our characters face are easily solved by talking there way out of it or by doing some things here and there. It provides a breezy ride with no major hiccups and hence loses a tension-filled atmosphere which is an integral part of a heist film. Except for one or two, the other characters in the movie lack depth and hence you don't connect with them or care about them. But these issues will generally be overlooked as the strong performances will eventually keep you hooked and entertained throughout.
Ocean's 8 is not a great film, and it is certainly also not a bad film. It is your average popcorn movie which will take you on a lighter and fun ride and will give you a good time at the theatres.
