Luka Chuppi Movie Review - None Of Your Business

Guddu (Kartik Aaryan) and Rashmi (Kriti Sanon) are in love. They are journalists who cover the streets of Mathura along with there partner in crime and cameraman Abbas (Aparshakti Khurana). When a celebrity is found having a live-in relationship, they go around interviewing the people of Mathura asking their opinion on the topic. While some answers from the elders and a pandit come as a surprise, the movie doesn't. 

Luka Chuppi is just another rom-com which desperately cries out to the society. In case you fail to notice the problem with the super sneaky aunty peeking at your windows, don't worry, as the final moments with ranty Aaryan will make sure that you hear the message loud and clear - MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS or LIVE-IN IS COOL and the usual POLITICS-RELIGION relationship that somehow finds its way everywhere. 

This coupled with five "original" songs may not be the biggest problem when compared to the films way of setting and dumping the development of a character. I am talking about Vishnu (Vinay Pathak), a politician who runs the reel life "Bajrang Dal" and loathes Muslims. His menace and villainy are suffered due to the curse of the climax. He is "sorted out" in the most nonsensical way possible. Perhaps there is no cure for Bollywood's hangover with happy endings that it achieves by hook or by crook. Not happy ending but the hook and the crook is the problem here. 

The breezy first half is let down by an unnecessarily extended second half in which most of the scenes involve the couple's attempts at getting married. Luka Chuppi is that politician who speaks for the society during the elections and then dumps its cause after winning it big. It is a passable film with big words and zero impact.
