Stronger - Movie Review

Stronger is a 2017 biographical film based on memoir by Jeff Baumen and Bret Witter. It traces the story of Jeff (Jake Gyllenhaal) who loses his legs during the 2013 Boston Marathon Bombing while he was waiting for his girlfriend Erin (Tatiana Maslany) to come at the finish line.
The films take on this subject is very mature. Generally a film like this can be made very emotional but here the emotions are evenly displayed. Sad scenes are mixed with some light hearted scenes so that the film might not become too emotional. There are some scenes that will surely give you goosebumps while others will just break your heart. A scene in particular where Gyllenhaal is dripped in blood and is lying on the floor after the bombing, the camera rotates in a circle and shows us the horror around him where piles of people are lying around with blood all over is just very hard to watch and shakes you from inside. The after effects faced by the victims and the consequences it has on the people around him/her is shown perfectly in this film.
Jake Gyllenhaal once again gives an oscar worthy performance. He is just fantastic and filled with expressions inside him. No one could have played this part better than him. Tatiana Maslany as Erin was an revelation. She too was great in her part. Actually everybody were good in there parts. Almost all of them gave an flawless performance. David Gordon's direction was fantastic. He directed the film beautifully with just the right amount of emotions.
Stronger is a must watch film and should not be missed at any cost. It's high time now and Jake should really get an oscar this time or at least he deserves a nomination.
