2017 was not a good year for bollywood films. There were many films that were just utter rubbish and not watchable. This year mainly all the big budget films with big stars were disastrous. Many small budget films that came out this year were the ones that truly winned the hearts. So here is the list of top 10 best bollywood films that I enjoyed watching this year. 10. Hindi Medium
Hindi Medium was surely a fun and an eye opening film to watch. The plot focuses on the modern system of education and how we Indians glorify English as a language. The film was entertaining with stellar performance from Irrfan and Saba who stole the limelight. Definitely worth a watch.
9. Fukrey Returns
Rarely we come across a sequel that delivers the same amount of entertainment as it's prequel especially in bollywood where sequels are just an excuse for making another story with no connections to the previous film. Hence, we have Fukrey Returns which by all means is an sequel to the 2013 film Fukrey. The film will surely light up your mood and if you are an fan of the fukrey boys, do watch this one especially for it's main highlight "Choocha".
8. Tumhari Sulu
Vidya Balan is an very talented actress and she is heart stoppingly good in Tumhari Sulu. The film tells the problems faced by an housewife who decides to take up a job as an RJ. This film puts light on the issues faced by womens regarding there freedoms and choice even today in our modern world. Do watch this film for Vidya's incredible performance.

Lipstick Under My Burkha is a black comedy film directed by Alankrita Shrivastava and she deserves all the credit and praises for making this hard hitting film. It is an women oriented film with the events unfolding in a Pulp Fiction kind of way. This film is one of the best to have come out this decade and is surely a must watch by every individual.
5. Trapped
Vikramaditya Motwane and Rajkummar Rao continue to impress the audience with there direction and acting respectively. This film tells the story about a man who gets locked in his apartment which is inhabited by no one. The film is a fresh take on the survival genre as here the protagonist is not trapped in an isolated area but he is trapped in the middle of thousands of people in a city. Do not miss this one.

It's not every time I love watching romantic movies as they are quite boring and filled with cliches. But I surely enjoyed watching Meri Pyaari Bindu a lot. The narrating style, performances, direction everything was good. Although when I watched the trailer, I expected this film to be more promising but nevertheless it was quite an good experience and I felt the magic even though it didn't meet my expectations.
3. Mukti Bhawan
Surely this film is underrated and deserved more praise than it got. Mukti Bhawan is that rare film which captures the human behaviour very beautifully and delievers a moving tale of redemption. The city of Varanasi is captured beautifully and it looks more like a character than a place. Surely check in at this bhawan.
2. A Death in the Gunj
Directed by Konkana Sen Sharma, this film is a masterpiece. During a family vacation, a boy named Shutu is continuously bullied by his family members and that is when the film takes a turn for the worst. Featuring exceptional performances and a great direction by Konkana, watch this film for it's very original screenplay and jaw dropping climax.

Newton is by far the best film of 2017. Rajkummar Rao plays Newton who tries to conduct free and fair election in a conflicting area. Rajkummar Rao is just amazing. The film does make you feel sad. Cinematography is amazing and so is the background score and direction. The film does make you question about the our freedom and how effectively we are using it.
