Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri is weird just like the title of the film. Martin McDonagh's film tells the story of a mother who seeks justice for her daughter who is raped and then burned alive. Although the basic synopsis does make it look like an typical mother-seeking-justice-for-her-daughter movie, but believe me you are in for a surprise.
This movie is unpredictable from the very first scene to the last scene. The movie keeps you at the edge of your seat and keeps you guessing till the very end. You are just watching a scene it progresses and then suddenly something unpredictable happens. It surely surprises you throughout and is very fresh and original in this genre. This is much more than a typical movie that goes around a character who fights in the streets against all odds to get justice for the wrong doings that happened to his family. The pacing is smooth and leaves no place for a dull moment. This is just a very weird movie where the characters take unpredictable choices that leave you in shock. You just kind of don't see it coming. Three Billboards will surely be in your mind long after you would have witnessed it. The soundtrack is enjoyable and really just merges with the plot and setting. This one is just brutally satisfying like David Fincher's Seven.
The performances here are one of the best you would see from an assembled cast in a film. Of course, Frances McDormand steals the show with her performance and one can't take eyes off from her when she is on screen. She just fires up the screen and moves you with her acting. Also Woody Harrelson is amazing here and surely gives his best performance till date. Also I thought Sam Rockwell too was terrific and he too just takes your breath away.
Three Billboards is an crazy stunning film that will keep you high and shocked throughout and I would definitely recommend to watch this one for it's fresh narrative and exceptional performances.
