I, Tonya - Movie Review

Based on the life of figure skater Tonya Harding, I, Tonya is a biographical directed by Craig Gillespie and stars the sexy Margot Robbie in the lead who has also produced this film. Written by Steven Rogers, it tells about the attack that happened on Nancy Kerrigan who was Tonya Harding's rival at that time and how it all actually took place.

I, Tonya has Margot Robbie in her best ever form till date, she just carries the film with her. She is just phenomenal and sexy and so energetic that you are not able to shift your eyes away from her whenever she is on screen. The scenes where Robbie is shown skating are so beautifully shot that they just keep you hooked and it becomes almost impossible to take your eyes away from the screen. She blends into the character of Tonya so comfortably that you think it is really Tonya you are watching on screen and not Margot. It's hard to replace anyone else in the shoes of Margot Robbie as she is just perfect for this character. Also, the pacing of this film is very good, it's quick and edgy leaving no space for dull moments and it perfectly utilizes its entire runtime. The first half of the film focuses on the introduction and setting up of its characters while the second half tells about the sensational scandal that generated controversies everywhere.

But not only Margot Robbie, the supporting cast too were good in this film.Sebastian Stan as Jeff Gillooly is terrific, he is Tonya's husband who loves and even hits her when he is filled with anger. He too gives one of his finest performance in the film. Allison Janney as Tonya's mother is awesome, she really pulls it off amazingly. Everybody was amazing in their performances and did justice to there roles and made good use of there acting skills when they were on screen. The direction of Craig Gillespie is fantastic, he has just nailed it with his fluent direction. Tatiana S. Riegel's editing is commendable and crisp which really makes this funny and tragic film enjoyable.

I, Tonya is a good film and if not for anything, do check it out for the amazing and earnest performance from the bold and stunning Margot Robbie who will not disappoint.
