Ant-Man and the Wasp is the sequel to the 2015 film Ant-Man and takes place right after the events of the 2016's Captain America: Civil War. Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) is under house arrest because of the events that took place in the Civil War and with only three days left in getting his freedom back, a mysterious villain by the name of "Ghost" surfaces. Ant-Man teams up with the Wasp to fight with the "ghost", and in the process, some secrets are revealed from the past which you have to find out by watching the movie.

Marvel movies have now entertained us for over ten years, and the excitement and the buzz a Marvel movie creates is something every fan can relate to. The whistles and the shoutings in the theatres during the logo of the Marvel Studios shows how much fans and people's have come to adore them through the years. So it was only natural that I was excited for watching Ant-Man and the Wasp on the very first day of its release. Having watched the film now, I can say that I was not entirely disappointed and it was undoubtedly a fun ride. The thing is that we have developed a certain attachment with these characters and our hearts pump up with excitement whenever we see these superheroes on screen. Add this with the stunning CGI and the action sequences these films offer which keep you hooked throughout its runtime. Hence, there is no question of getting bored or losing interest from it. For those of you who are still weeping over the events of Infinity War can get loads of fun and laughter from this film. Peyton Reed returns to the director's chair and brings back that amusing narrative sequence involving the voiceover of the narrator describing the events of the past. Paul Rudd is super amazing and funny as the small-sized superhero and the scenes involving him and his daughter are the most touching and sweetest part of the movie. Evangeline Lilly as the Wasp is a real kickass delivering some hard punches and flying kicks. This movie is more about her than Ant-Man and given the fact that she had barely anything to do in the prequel, its exciting to see more of her here. Both the Michael's (Douglas and Pena) have some wonderful lines and hilarious scenes which tickle your bones with laughter. The action sequences are stunning and breathtaking and very well-executed. The film smartly employs the idea of shrinking and expanding during the action scenes which overall provide a treat to the audience watching it on the big screen.

But all is not as good as it seems and the film does suffer from some significant issues. Given the fact that the previous two Marvel movies to come out were Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War, Ant-Man and the Wasp literally looks small when compared to the other two films and even has nothing much to offer plot-wise. The basic premise of the film is straightforward and is stretched for over two hours to make a movie which looks like a filler. There are many important questions left unanswered, and it gets away with it by letting the viewers assume that it's a Marvel movie and these things can happen here. No proper explanation is given, and the topics are brushed aside by feeding us with a dialogue or two. The character of Scott Lang is completely changed and what once was shown as smart and daring is reduced to a joke in this film. The villain is also one of the weakest links of this sequel and fails to make an impact. Talking of villains, Walton Goggins as the black market dealer Sonny Burch was unnecessary and disposable. You can take him out and alter a few things here and there and still there won't be any significant changes in the film.

Ant-Man and the Wasp maybe the weakest film in the MCU but it has enough elements of entertainment and enjoyment to give you a good time. If you are wondering that the film may answer your questions about the Infinity War, then I suggest that you keep your expectations under control because it takes place before Infinity War and after the Civil War.  There are two post-credit scenes and while the first one is a must-watch, the second one is not so necessary, and you may walk away from it without missing on anything significant.
