2001: A Space Odyssey - Movie Review

2001: A Space Odyssey directed by Stanley Kubrick was released in 1968 and was opened to mixed reactions from audience and critics alike. Soon it gained a cult following and became the highest grossing film of 1968. The film tells the story of David Bowman (Keir Dullea) along with Frank Poole (Gary Lockwood) and and a sentient computer Hal 9000 ( voiced by Douglas Rain ) who voyage to Jupiter after the discovery of a mysterious black monolith affecting human evolution.
On the first viewing, the initial reaction of the audience can be "What the f**k is going on?!" and many won't understand it's complex ending. I will not explain the movie here I will just express my thoughts about the movie. For explanation, you can google it but I will provide a link at the end of the post that I referred to understand the movie. It's explanation of the movie is simple and to the point, just check the link at the bottom.
So the movie basically deals with the evolution of mankind which is told through the vision of Stanley Kubrick in a sci-fi manner. Kubrick's vision is extraordinary and his treatment is top notch. Geoffrey Unsworth's cinematography gives life to Kubrick's vision in a spectacular way. The visuals are eye pleasing and grand. The music used is intense and creates a chilling mood. I was just amazed by the way this movie was presented. I was drowned in it's visuals and compelled by it's story which was even more improvised by the acting from it's cast. All have done there jobs perfectly and made this movie what it is today. This is definitely the movie to watch if you have not watched it yet.
At times the movie drags it's stunning, long visuals for quite a time and it is where I got a bit bored. Although they were fantastic but they made me drowsy for a time. But nonetheless, this movie is very cool and I would recommend watching it if you haven't.
