Rosemary's Baby - Movie Review

Watching movies like Rosemary's Baby, one gets the idea as to how the horror movies that were released earlier got such rave reviews from critics and audiences alike. Those were the times when no cheap jump scares were used to scare the audience instead the main focus would be on the plot and hence movies like these would keep the tension on you throughout it's runtime and even after they end. Rosemary's Baby is that kind of movie that will keep you spooked and unsettling days after you would have watched it. The story revolves around Rosemary (Mia Farrow) and her husband Guy (John Cassavetes) who move into this new apartment and there lives take a new twist when they are acquainted with there neighbours Minnie (Ruth Gordon) and Roman (Sidney Blackmer).
Now this film will surely give you the creeps and chills, thanks to it's creepy plot and an excellent performance from the lead cast. The tension progresses with the film until finally it hits you. This film also beautifully depicts how the human behaviour changes when it comes to there personal gain and to what limit they go to achieve it. The selfishness, obsession and manipulative nature of the human psychology mixed with some interesting twists and an unsettling, spooky plot is served to us in the form of this film and honestly it succeeds on every level. Movies like these are very rare nowadays, thanks to the box office success of many previous crap horror films which provide nothing but cheap jump scares, our filmmakers too keep on dumping stupid horror films to us which lack plot and imagination. But still we get to see gems like The Witch (2015) and The Pact (2012) to name a few who really have some good content and horror to deliver.
As mentioned earlier the performances are breathtaking and very real that you actually feel the pain and creepiness growing on you and that's a good thing. Roman Polanski had done an excellent job in directing this film and he really nailed it. Everybody did there job amazingly and that is another reason that makes Rosemary's Baby worth your time.
