Pushpavalli is created by Sumukhi Suresh who stars as Pushpavalli in the show and it is directed by Debbie Rao. It tells the story of this stalker Pushpavalli who moves to Banglore for a guy who she meets during a workshop on food science or something in Chennai. The show is available on the Amazon Prime and shows the creepiness and obsessive nature of this person and how far she goes for something she desires.
What starts as a comedy show turns into a psychological thriller by the time it ends. It shows the reality about the one thing that our Bollywood industry has been glorifying for years i.e; stalking. They show the actor stalking the actress and even forcing her sometimes but even worse thing is that the actresses don't seem to mind and even end up with the actor. Hence, Pushpavalli does show the reality and the creepiness behind the stalking and how dangerous it could be. The show also intelligently focuses on the other negative aspects of society towards women and they are all very skillfully integrated here. The one thing that makes this show even more effective is it's lead cast Sumukhi Suresh who really does give you the creeps and laughs when required from her. The show also shows how generally people misunderstand a person's gesture and in turn misinterpret there feelings. The show consists of 8 episodes and all of them have a runtime of 20-22 minutes so you can binge watch it. The show doesn't drag and has some really laugh out loud moments.
Sumukhi Suresh is very sweet girl who really gives you the creeps. Manish Anand is that perfect guy who she stalks and he is quite charming. Naveen is a treat to watch, his dialogue delivery is superb and he gives many over the top expressions. My favourite character in the show was of Sharaddha who plays the PG owner Vasu. She really delivers some funny dialogues in her accent and provides a good comic relief.
A character at one time asks what is the meaning of Pushpavalli, to which the lead answers as a "creeper" and yes, she does creeps the hell out of you by the time the show ends. Do watch the show if possible and anyway the show is not that long so just binge watch it on Amazon Prime in your free time.
