Hate Story 4 movie review - Even the sensual Urvashi Rautela cannot save this unbearable story.
Hate Story 4 is like a combination of the previous films in this franchise but the problem is that it is too exhausting to witness.

So we now have the fourth installment in the Hate Story franchise and boy it is so hateful. Vishal Pandya successfully returns yet again to direct the fourth part and churns out another hate story by casting Urvashi Rautela as Tasha who in her own words "has no sky to shine like a star". Enter Karan Wahi as Rajveer who helps her shine by giving the sky she so much desires. But Pandya doesn't want to tell a simple story so he tries to make it complicated by throwing in many twists and turns which may sometimes seem a bit forced.
I liked the first part, found the second one average and the third was probably better of the lot in this franchise. This one is just the combination of the previous installments in the franchise and doesn't have any unique story to tell, it's hybrid. But let's perceive the positives first before jotting down the negatives. Of course, Urvashi Rautela is the biggest asset of this film, she seduces with her moves and burns the screen by dancing to "Aashiq Banaya Aapne". The film heavily relies on her and requires her to make out in slo-mo during the song sequences and other times to become like a eye candy for the audience. I think Urvashi is the only thing that is even close to being liked in this film because there is practically nothing else to admire here.
Coming to the negatives, this film is tiring to watch. It's the fourth installment in the franchise and is quite unnecessary. The plot is laughable and sometimes the acting too. The songs are an excuse for lovemaking scenes between the leads and they are just some forgettable sequences which are just pushed in between the frames to extend the run time of the film. The dialogues can be cringy and most of the times too cheesy to digest. As mentioned earlier, it is a combination of the previous films in this franchise and that makes this film a complete mess. It fails to find it's original voice and misses the mark far away from the point. The background score is loud and ear piercing, it will make you cover your ears in pain. The film tries to give a good message but miserably fails due to its poor writing and execution. The section of the audience who will enter the theatres in hope for some erotic scenes will also be disappointed as there are not many of them here and the ones that are present are maybe censored or not so long enough to satisfy. You can basically watch them in the trailers and the songs available on the YouTube.
The performances are a major let down here. Urvashi is sizzling to look but the film doesn't let her do enough in the acting department and fails to display her full potential as an actor because in the end she is basically required to seduce the leading heroes and the audience. I liked her in Sanam Re and I think given a chance, she can do much better when compared to what she has done here. Karan Wahi and Vivan Bhatena try hard but fail to leave an impression. lhana Dhillon is forgettable and has nothing much to do. Watching a talented actor like Gulshan Grover stuck in this film is just sad. He was just an unnecessary addition to the film and is heavily wasted here as he has nothing to do. You can remove him from the film and still nothing major changes would take place in the plot.
In the end, Hate Story 4 is not even watchable unlike its predecessors and will fail to leave an impression behind. It doesn't properly utilize its cast and attempts to tell an outdated story with no major impact.
