Baaghi 2 movie review - Guns and Roses
A sequel to the 2016 film Baaghi, Baaghi 2 has Tiger Shroff reprising his role as Ronny and is a remake of the 2016 critically acclaimed film Kshanam. It is the story about the damsel in distress Neha (Disha Patani) whose daughter gets kidnapped, and thus she asks Ronny to help her in finding her daughter, and therefore he starts unravelling the mystery behind it and also kicking ass side by side. Is Neha's daughter a figment of her imagination or is she lying and everybody is telling the truth? The film answers all these questions at the run time of 2 hours 20 minutes.

I have not seen but heard good things about the movie Kshanam from which this film is adapted. I don't know how much changes are made in this film and how much similar regarding the story they both are but Baaghi 2 comes out as a complete mess. But let's start this review by first highlighting the good things present in it. Tiger Shroff as Ranveer Pratap Singh aka Ronny is the one on whose shoulders the whole movie rests, and he doesn't disappoint too. The way Tiger executes all the action sequences and shows off his physique may leave you with a desire to join a gym. He passes with flying colours when it comes to action, but the same cannot be said for his acting skills. Although he puts a lot of effort to act, he doesn't quite succeed in this department. Anyways, all thanks to Tiger as he makes the action sequences worth your while and hence they are also a highlight of the film. A chase sequence involving Ronny and Sunny (Prateik Babbar) is one of the best scenes in the movie. The action sequence that takes place in the jungle during the finale reminded me of the Ubisoft's video game series Far Cry. The direction of Ahmed Khan is worth your praise as he knows how to direct an action film which raises the level of adrenaline in your body. Frankly, there is nothing else I can think right about this film.
Starting with the downfalls, this movie is stretched far too long, and while you are hooked most of the time, you cannot help but wonder that you have been watching for too long and the interval hasn't come yet when in reality you have been there for merely 1 hour. It is one of those films where songs pop out from nowhere and are put there just for stretching the run time of the film. Just when you feel invested in the movie, a song comes along to distract you, especially in the first half. One song, in particular, the film could have done without is the "Ek Do Teen" sung by Shreya Ghosal which had Jacqueline Fernandez in it. It was unnecessary and served no purpose to the story of the film whatsoever. Also, I guess it is stupid to ask questions as to why no bullets seem to hit Tiger and why the enemy group is so weak at firing the guns while Tiger smashes them all from a distance far away while hanging from a rope. Also, the performances are not worth remembering as no one leaves a substantial impact. Disha Patani is sweet and pleasant to look at but needs to work more on her acting skills. Even some excellent actors like Randeep Hooda, Manoj Bajpayee and Deepak Dobriyal are massively wasted in this film. Prateik Babbar acts like a maniac but instead makes us as an audience mad at his performance. He did a lot better job in the 2012 film Ekk Deewana Tha and also in the 2010 film Dhobi Ghat. The mystery when unravelled seems illogical and silly.
Baaghi 2 in some ways reminded me of Tiger Zinda Hai and I also somewhat feel the same way about both these films, but Baaghi 2 is slightly better than Tiger Zinda Hai. Baaghi 2 is one of those films that the "mass" audiences will love and enjoy. Given that Baaghi 3 is already announced, it seems they are not stopping anytime soon. Content seekers, stay away from this.
