Deadpool 2 Movie Review - It's Bigger But Is It Better Than It's Prequel?
Time traveller Cable and Deadpool have a single target who is a young mutant by the name of Russell Collins. Deadpool wants to save the young mutant from the Cable who is determined to kill him no matter the cost.

As many of you would have still not watched Deadpool 2, I will keep this review spoiler free and as vague as possible. I won't spoil your fun and will continue this review with zero spoilers. So to sum it up by all the trailers we have seen online, Cable (Josh Brolin) is a time travelling mutant who is after this kid Russell Collins (Julian Dennison) and wants to kill him. Deadpool, on the other hand, wants to save the kid from the mutant and for his help, he makes up a team and names them X-Force.
The 2016 Deadpool which is a prequel to this film was a huge success among the critics and the audience. It went on to collect huge figures from the box office and turned out to be financially successful. Hence, it didn't come as a surprise that the makers went ahead with the sequel which is bigger than it's predecessor in every way possible but does it mean it is also better than the prequel?
The answer to this question lies somewhere between yes and no for me as I thought it was a lot of fun, but at the same time, it has a lot going on in it, unlike the previous part which took up a more simplistic approach. Let's talk about the positives first - the action sequences are grand and fabulous, and it's expected as the movie is directed by David Leitch, the man behind the stunning action film John Wick. It's very likeable characters like Deadpool (of course!) who often breaks the fourth wall to deliver some funny lines that crack you up every now and then. I also liked Cable played by Josh Brolin who also played the character of Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War and that's the reason why in one scene, Deadpool refers to him as Thanos. I loved the addition of Domino who is a mutant who has luck as her superpowers and that builds up some pretty nice action sequences where one thing leads to another much like in the film Final Destination. The length of the film is another plus point for the movie as it doesn't drag unnecessary and makes full use of its runtime. There are some emotional scenes present in here which I was not expecting and they were successful in touching my heart. The film focuses more on Wade Wilson than Deadpool, and I liked that the film took this approach in this sequel. It was good to see Wilson take the front seat here and show his vulnerable side hidden inside the masked superhero. Ryan Reynolds loves this character, and it can be seen by the way he induces a charm and energy inside his role. I also found the opening credits to be very cool and stylish.
Although the film has some compelling lead characters, I was disappointed to see less of Negasonic Warhead and her love interest Shioli Kutsuna as they could have been a cool addition to all the breathtaking events that rendered on screen. As much as I enjoyed Deadpool, I thought this one in its attempt to surpass the prequel added way more stuff in it making it a bit convoluted but that is something that can be easily dismissed and will eventually go away the next time when I would watch this movie again with ease and by having a more relaxed view.
In the end, Deadpool 2 is fun at the theatres, and I would recommend you to watch it. It is an R rated family movie, yes you heard it right, and it has its heart in the right place.
