Paddleton Movie Review - Friends Forever
The bromance between two friends takes emotional turmoil when one of them is found with cancer.

Michael (Mark Duplass) and Andy (Ray Romano) are more than neighbours; they are best friends. They love riddles and spend time playing a game they had invented. The game is known as "Paddleton" where the ball is tossed at a wall with a bat, and then it should bounce back inside a drum kept at a distance. Their favourite film is Death Punch which they watch every night with a pizza before going to bed. This routine is cut short when Michael gets cancer, and he decides to take a medication which would end his life, but Andy is not ready to let Michael go.
Since the nearest pharmacy which sells the necessary medication is almost 6 hours away, they decide to go on a road trip. While many movies use road trips to bring out a revelation or self-confidence from within, Paddleton uses it to bring closure to the characters. They stop on the way to look at ostriches and compare its speed with a cheetah. Random topics are a part of there life. It reminds us how much we enjoy talking absurd and nonsensical things with our friends. Any eavesdropper would find this conversation to be stupid. There is a reason why he/she is your best friend and indulges in your idiocy.
Even if I describe the whole plot, it would not be a spoiler because movies like Paddleton are made for experiencing. In no way can you take away its essence. Friends like Andy and Michael are hard to find and so is finding a movie like this which captures life on celluloid so realistically.
Mark and Ray share electrifying chemistry that is rarely seen in today's films. They don't try to impress anyone as they live and not act in front of the camera. This duo is undoubtedly one of the best in recent times.
The final moments are some of the most heart-wrenching ones that would move even the toughest of the hearts. Life is short, death is inevitable and time moves on. Hang out with your friends and loved ones. Paddleton is currently streaming on Netflix, and I recommend sitting with a handkerchief or a box of tissue.
