Total Dhamaal Movie Review - A Proud Failure
A man before dying gives away the location of a huge stack of money which starts a race among the different people's to reach the place first.

Watching Total Dhamaal felt like the makers were showing the finger to the audience by making fun of our sense of judgement that we decided to spend the money on this crap even after watching the trailer. Admittedly, this feeling creeps in during the climax which takes place in a zoo filled with intelligent animals that can understand humans. Whether I was in a comma before or after this is up for debate.
Total Dhamaal is the third instalment in the Dhamaal franchise and is the first that doesn't follow up after the events of the previous film but in a way it serves as a remake of the first part. There is an accident, a hidden bag of money, a police officer on chase and characters competing against each other to reach the location before the others. There is Guddu (Ajay Devgn) and Johnny (Sanjay Mishra), Avinash (Anil Kapoor) and Bindu (Madhuri Dixit) who are always bickering and about to be divorced, Lallan (Riteish Deshmukh) and Jhingur (Pitobash Tripathy) - Firefighters who gamble on who to save first and finally, Aditya (Arshad Warsi) and Manav (Javed Jaffrey) the only characters reprising there roles from the previous films.
The whole movie requires suspension of disbelief, and there is no problem in that but if this is how creative liberties are taken then something is wrong with you. I mean, how does someone come up with the idea of comparing a helicopter with soap and an actress? Why are all the South Indians shown only in "lungis"? FYI, they also wear jeans and pants. This cheap use of racist and sexist jokes for the sake of laughter is outdated and not funny anymore. For god's sake, this is 2019, and yet some of us still think that an ensemble star cast can save a doomed script!
There were moments where I chuckled, but for the majority of it, I was choking. It won't help even if you leave your brain at home because Total Dhamaal will make sure you check into a therapy session after kicking you out from the theatre.
